Caroline Hamilton and Tony Staneff - Rethink Maths

Our story

For over a decade we have been working hard to support maths education globally. Two teachers at heart, we founded White Rose Maths and grew it to the biggest maths scheme in England, used in over 140 countries and loved by teachers. We are incredibly proud of our unusual journey and feel we have more to give to maths education – that’s why we have set up Rethink Maths!

Mission driven to make a difference, we are passionate about high-quality content, professional development and bringing positivity to maths.

If you’re curious, passionate, or just want to know more, join us on our mission.

Let’s rethink maths - together.

Our 5 missions

foundations

We want to give every child the strongest possible start in maths. This means deep understanding, lasting confidence and joyful learning.

confidence

Because when people believe they can do maths, whatever their age or background, new doors open and whole lives can change.

inclusion

We believe everyone deserves to feel included in maths. It's about reaching every learner, recognising their strengths and never lowering the bar.

real-world

Maths should make sense and feel meaningful in real life. We're here to balance the beauty of maths with learning beyond the classroom.

teaching

Great teaching needs great support and great resources that really deliver. We're here to support every teacher, every step of the way.

Our services

We’re on a mission to tackle some of the biggest challenges in maths education - from building strong foundations to boosting confidence, inclusion and relevance. While we work on resources and long-term plans to address these issues, we already offer a range of services to support schools, organisations and companies who share our passion for maths.

For schools and trusts

We work in partnership with schools, academy trusts and international school groups to improve maths outcomes and build teacher confidence. From one-off training sessions to longer-term support, we tailor our work to your context. Whether you’re looking to strengthen the basics, develop subject knowledge, or rethink your maths approach, we can help.

Content and curriculum development

We’ve got a track record of creating trusted, high-impact resources used by schools across the world. We offer content development services including writing content and curriculum design. If you want maths materials that are pedagogically excellent, accessible and engaging we’re your people!

For governments and organisations

We support governments, NGOs and education bodies looking to reform or rethink maths education. From curriculum development to teacher training models, we bring deep expertise in maths pedagogy and system-wide change. We’ve seen what works, and what gets in the way, and we’re ready to help shape bold, practical solutions that improve outcomes at scale.

Speaking and events

We’re always happy to speak at events and contribute to conversations about maths education. From keynotes to panel discussions, we bring insight, honesty and passion. Whether it’s about curriculum change, confidence in the classroom or maths in the modern world we’d love to support you.
